The Final Touches!

The Final Touches: Galley Review & Book Design

We’re in the home stretch! This is Part 3 of our four-part behind-the-scenes series, taking you through every step of the Your Book About You process. So far, we’ve covered storytelling, writing, and editing. Now, we focus on the final details that bring your book together—the galley review, cover design, and last formatting adjustments before it goes to print.

The Galley Edition: One Last Look Before Production

At this stage, your book is nearly complete. The galley edition is a true-to-size 4x6 physical proof, allowing you to see your book exactly as it will appear in print. Holding a physical copy is different from reading a digital file—it gives you a real sense of the layout, flow, and readability. The galley review is not a time for rewrites, additions, or content changes. Instead, it’s an opportunity to spot formatting issues or layout inconsistencies that might need refining before the book goes into full production. This is the last checkpoint before printing.

Cover Selection: The Look of Your Story

Your cover is just as important as the words inside. As part of the process, you’ll receive 3–4 professionally designed covers to choose from. These are created by our trusted graphic artists, who specialize in book design and understand what makes a cover stand out. For those who want a truly unique touch, we also offer custom cover design for an additional fee. Whether you go with a pre-designed option or commission something personal, the goal is the same: a cover that represents your story beautifully and professionally.

Final Revisions: Locking It In

Once the galley review is complete and the cover is selected, the book is finalized. No further content changes—no rewrites, no last-minute wording tweaks—can be made. The time for that was in the earlier stages. However, certain layout refinements and formatting adjustments (such as spacing, alignment, or minor page flow issues) can still be addressed if needed. Beyond that, this is it—once we give the green light, your book is off to print.

Almost There—We’ve Got You Covered

At this point, your book is truly done. It’s been written, refined, reviewed, and now prepared for print. The next step? Production and delivery. We know the process can feel overwhelming, but you’re in good hands. We’ve done this before, and we know exactly what it takes to get your book from concept to reality. Stay tuned for the final part of this series, where we’ll cover printing, delivery, and finally holding your book in your hands.
